ShelterBox Türkiye Emergency Response Evaluation
Published
December 2023

The evaluation for the ShelterBox project was conducted in response to the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye that occurred on February 6, 2023, spanning from February 2023 to July 2023.

The primary objective of this evaluation is to thoroughly assess the short- and medium-term impact of the project intervention on individual beneficiaries and their families. This impact was achieved through the implementation of response activities, encompassing the delivery of tents, household items and hygiene kits. The evaluation serves a critical accountability function, directed towards the communities and individuals affected by the crisis, as well as to the UK public and other key supporters of the ShelterBox intervention.

The evaluation effort encompassed a comprehensive examination of the project interventions in four provinces. It involved extensive engagements with a diverse stakeholder to gather valuable insights and perspectives. A participatory approach was adopted, allowing active involvement of the project implementation team and the affected communities. Qualitative discussions, meticulous analysis, and triangulation were utilized throughout the evaluation process to ensure comprehensive and accurate findings. Overall, the evaluation team met with 16 key informants, and facilitated 10 FGDs with the affected populations.
