ActionAid Arab Region Türkiye/Syria Earthquake Appeal Final Evaluation
Published
December 2024

Following the February 2023 earthquakes that struck southeastern Türkiye and northwestern Syria, ActionAid Arab Region partnered with five local organisations to deliver a DEC-funded response across Idleb and Aleppo governorates in Syria and the Hatay and Kilis region in Türkiye. The programme reached 84,422 people between September 2023 and May 2024, working across protection, livelihoods, health, and capacity building, with a particular focus on empowering women and girls.

The evaluation assessed relevance, effectiveness, impact, sustainability, accountability, and coordination, finding strong adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards and sensitivity to local context, culture, and conflict dynamics. It highlights both the programme's successes and the challenges encountered, and offers recommendations for future humanitarian responses.
